Automatic Cover
The Church of Scotland Insurance Company Ltd (COSIC) has created an insurance scheme arrangement specifically for the needs of churches and their congregations. Whether an inner city church or a Highland parish, large or small, and whatever your circumstances we will be able to help. The scheme includes a range of covers for buildings and contents, employers and public liability, charity trustees indemnity and breach of duty automatically.
It was extended in 2011 to encompass:
- Accidental damage (for those Congregations who have upgraded to full perils)
- Charity shops
- Cafes
- Contract Works up to a contract value of £150,000
- Special and Fund Raising Events (subject to certain limitations)
- And many other extensions to cover.

Optional Cover
Flexibility is provided by offering a range of optional extensions which can be selected as required.
Free Instalments
The premium can be paid over 10 monthly instalments completely free of charge. An instalment form is available from us should you wish to pay the premiums this way, and we will make the necessary arrangements with your bank or building society.
24 Hour Helplines
These are provided free of charge to Church of Scotland Insurance Company Ltd customers, 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Click here to access those helplines.
Index Linking
COSIC consults its trusted suppliers regularly to determine the level of index linking to be applied to the Scheme.
Discounts
There are discounts built into the rating structure for size and scale. We may also be prepared to provide further discounts for entering into Long term Agreements (LTAs) for 3 to 5 years, and for good experience (subject to eligibility conditions).
Gift Aid
Any and all profits made by the Church of Scotland Insurance Company Ltd (COSIC) are returned to the Church of Scotland in Gift Aid so you can be assured that by insuring through COSIC you are also contributing to the wider well being of the Church.
